About Us

Wolcyn Tree Farms & Nursery is a family business, owned and operated by Tom and Adie Wolcyn, along with 2 of their sons, Nick and Ben. Both boys attended Northwestern College (St. Paul) where they majored in business/finance and Bible. Their 3rd son Clint works in full-time ministry for Trinity Works in the Twin Cities.  He has worked in the family business part time since he graduated from Northwestern in Criminal Justice. Bobby, their 4th son is a senior at Northwestern, and he is set to graduate in the fall.  He works on the farm on a part time basis, but may be full-time before too long.  This fall marks the first football season since 2000 that Northwestern won't have a Wolcyn on the team as all four boys played football for the Eagles. 

Tom has been growing trees since he was 14 years old. He began full-time in the tree business after graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Forestry. He played 4 years of varsity baseball at the U as well as a few years as an assistant before going on to become the head coach at Bethel University in St. Paul.  

Over the last 43 years of business there have been a few changes along the way.  When Tom started in the business, he was growing strictly Christmas trees.  Soon after, he started growing large evergreens to be balled and burlapped along with his seedling and transplant beds for the bare root trees.  The next change came when he decided to get into the decidous and ornamental tree world as the housing market was starting to rise.  Finally the container grown evergreen nursery came to be fifteen or so years ago.  The tree industry has had its ups and downs over the 43 years of business, but Tom still enjoys the day to day tasks of the business.  Our goal as a company is to provide our customers with the highest quality trees, affordable prices, and the best service anywhere !
